Vyzerá to ako Vianoce / It Looks Like Christmas
Pokiaľ ide o knihy, neskutočne uponáhľaná prvá polovica decembra bola pre mňa skôr čakaním na knihy, o ktorých som vedela, že si nájdem pod vianočným stromčekom. Keďže pracujem pre najväčšie internetové kníhkupectvo na svete, s objednávaním kníh už mám skúsenosti a Ježiško si s toľkými darčekmi občas zaslúži pomôcť, aspoň za rodičov si svoje knižné darčeky objednávam sama.
No tieto Vianoce si pre mňa Ježiško, alebo lepšie povedané niekoľko Ježiškov spolu, pripravilo jedno úžasné knižné prekvapenie, o ktorom som nemala ani tušenie.
A to som už prestávala veriť, že aj po tridsiatich Vianociach, si pod vianočným stromčekom postupne nájdem niečo, čo v mojich očiach a srdci opäť vyčarí tú detskú radosť z prekvapenia z vysneného darčeka. A keď sa pod stromčekom objavila aj posledná siedma časť Harryho Pottera, dozvedela som sa aj celý príbeh, ktorý viedol k skompletizovaniu piatich častí (3-7) pod vetvičkami stromčeka :)

In terms of books, I spent the terribly hasty first half of the December waiting for books I was sure to find under the Christmas tree. Since I work for the biggest internet bookshop in the world, I have enough experience with ordering of books and Jesus Child (Jesus Child brings presents in Slovakia) also needs a little help from time to time, at least on behalf of my parents I use to order my bookish gifts myself. However, this Christmas Jesus Child, or better said several Jesus Children together, prepared for me an amazing surprise I didn't have any idea about.
And I was about to cease to believe that even after thirty Christmases I will find under the Christmas tree subsequently something that in my eyes and heart creates that childish joy of a surprise of getting a present I've been dreaming of as if by magic. And when even the last seventh part of the Harry Potter series appeared under my Christmas tree, I learned the whole story that led to the completing of the five books (3-7) under the branches of the tree :)

Jednou z dvoch kníh, na ktoré som sa na Vianoce tešila, keďže som o nich vedela, pretože som ich za rodičov objednala sama, bolo nádherné vydanie zbierky zimných rozprávok The Snow Queen and Other Winter Tales, viazané v koži, z vydavateľstva Barnes & Noble. Kniha je nádherná tak zvonku, ako aj zvnútra. Obsahuje príbehy od takých literárnych majstrov ako Hans Christian Andersen, bratia Grimmovci, Charles Dickens, Louisa May Alcott, Oscar Wilde, Andrew Lang, či Alexandre Dumas.

Vianočný príbeh kníh o Harrym Potterovi / The Christmas Story of the Harry Potter Books
Trvalo mi niekoľko rokov kým som sa rozhodla, že si príbeh o čarodejníkovi Harrym Potterovi prečítam. Príbeh sa mi z vonkajšieho pohľadu zdal byť príliš detský. Preto som sa najprv pustila do čítania Pána prsteňov, ktorého som však asi niekde v polovici druhej časti odložila stranou, už ani neviem presne prečo. Prečítala som celú Twilight ságu, ako úžasné odreagovanie sa po návrate zo stresujúceho zamestnania, a po upírskej ságe som pokračovala anjelskou ságou Pád z pera Lauren Kateovej, trilógiou Hry o život, ktorú som doslova zhltla a trilógiou Die for Me od Amy Plumovej. Vyskúšala som aj ďalšie dystópie a fantasy knihy, no už žiadna zo sérií ma neoslovila až natoľko, aby som sa dostala ďalej, než po prvú knihu.
Koncom roka 2014 som sa však rozhodla, že rok 2015 bude rokom, kedy si konečne prečítam Harryho Pottera. Od začiatku roka som však uvažovala nad tým, ktorú edíciu si vyberiem tak, aby bola cenovo prijateľná a zároveň nádherná, aby sa mohla krásne vynímať aj v mojej knižnici. Na jeseň to už vyzeralo tak, že ani rok 2015 nebude pre mňa rokom Harryho Pottera, keďže bol už október a po knihách v mojej knižnici ani chýru ani slychu. Začiatkom novembra sa v Bratislave konala každoročná, predajná výstava Bibliotéka a ja som sa konečne rozhodla priniesť si z nej môjho prvého Harryho Pottera, z detskej edície britského vydavateľstva Bloomsbury, s ilustráciami Jonnyho Duddlea na obale. A pre prípad núdze, že budem zúfalo chcieť čítať ďalej a nebudem mať čo, ktorý je tak dobre známy všetkým knihomoľom, som si radšej vzala hneď dve časti. It took me several years till I decided that I want to read the story about Harry Potter the wizard. From my outsider point of view I considered the story being too childish. That's why I first ventured into reading of The Lord of the Rings that I abandoned somewhere in the middle of the second book, I don't really remember why at all. I read the whole Twilight saga as an amazing distraction after returning from stressful job, and after finishing the vampire saga I continued with reading of the angelic saga Fallen by Lauren Kate, I literally swallowed the Hunger Games trilogy and I also read the Die for Me trilogy by Amy Plum. I tried another dystopian and fantasy book series but I've never managed it past the first book.
End of the 2014 I've decided that 2015 is going to be the year when I am finally going to read Harry Potter. Since the beginning of the year I've been wondering on which edition to chose, so that on one hand the books can be bought at a reasonable price and on the other hand the edition would look beautiful in my library. In autumn it looked like even the 2015 won't be the Harry Potter year for me, since it was October and Harry Potter books were still missing from my library. Beginning of November the annual Biblioteka Expo took place in Bratislava and I eventually decided to bring my first Harry Potter book from there, the one from the children's edition from the British publisher Bloomsbury, illustrated by Jonny Duddle. And just in case that I would desperately want to read on and there would be no book to do so, the feeling so well known to all bookworms, I rather purchased the first and the second part too. Dočítala som to, čo som mala práve rozčítané a 26. novembra som začala s prvou časťou Harry Potter a Kameň mudrcov, ktorú som mala prečítanú 15. decembra, kedy som hneď začala s čítaním druhej časti, Harry Potter a Tajomná komnata, ktorú teraz finišujem.
Krátko po mojom novembrovom príspevku sa mi ozvala mama, hlavná organizátorka Harry Potter prekvapenia s nápadom, že by mi na meniny mohla kúpiť ďalšiu časť. Tak som jej poslala zoznam kníh, ktoré mi ešte chýbajú a presné ISBN čísla tak, aby knihy presne pasovali do série, ktorú som prvými dvomi knihami začala tvoriť. A viac som sa o to nestarala. No mimo mňa sa začalo tvoriť celé, nádherné prekvapenie. Mama volala na podnet sesternice, ktorá sa jej pýtala, čo mi má kúpiť na Vianoce, a pod zámienkou menín sa jej odo mňa podarilo vylákať celý zoznam kníh, ktorý ďalej posunula sesternici a bratrancovi. Sesternica teda kúpila tretiu, štvrtú a piatu časť. Krátko pred Vianocami sa mame ozvala aj nevlastná sestra, ktorá spolu s bratom tiež chcela radu v tom, čo mi majú darovať, a tak mama posunula zoznam aj im. V kníhkupectve v Michalovciach však jednu z posledných dvoch kníh z mojej špecifickej edície nemali, a tak sesternica v Bratislave išla do kníhkupectva opäť a dokúpila aj posledné dve časti.
Päť častí Harryho Pottera sa tak viezlo z Bratislavy do Michaloviec spolu. Operácia ich distribúcie medzi darcov prebehla v úplnej tajnosti, v ráno Štedrého večera a počas Štedrého večera samotného. Pod stromčekom u starého otca som si teda našla tretiu a štvrtú časť, od bratranca a sesternice, a po príchode domov, som dostala meninovú, piatu časť, od mamy, keďže na meniny už doma nebudem. Z dvoch kníh, som mala zrazu päť a chýbali už len dve, čo sa mi už zdalo byť ako maličkosť vediac, že kým ich, tie posledné dve si už určite kúpim aj sama.
O tri dni sme však boli sľúbené na návštevu u nevlastnej sestry a brata, čiže zostávali ešte dva darčeky a ja som začínala síce čosi tušiť, no neodvážila som sa to čakať. Vedela som však, že ak budú mať balíčky obdĺžnikový tvar, bude to ono. A bolo :) Posledné dve časti Harryho Pottera. Zrazu sa mi aj kreslený Malfoy na zadnej strane šiesteho dielu zdal byť neskutočne očarujúci a magický :)

Shortly after my November post my mum, the head of the whole Harry Potter surprise, with an idea to buy me the next Harry Potter book for my name-day in January. So I sent her the list of books I still miss with exact ISBN numbers, so that the books would fit correctly to the collection I started to build with the first two books I bought. And I didn't care about it more. Though, behind the scenes the whole wonderful surprise began to form. My mum called on the initiative of my cousin who asked her for an advice on what to give me for Christmas, and under the pretext of my name-day she managed to elicit from me the whole list of books, which she forwarded to my two cousins. So my cousin purchased the third, fourth and fifth book. Shortly before Christmas my half-sister addressed my mum with the same question on what should she and her brother give me for Christmas. So my mum forwarded the list to them, too. However, the bookshop in my home town didn't have one of the last books from my specific edition, and so my dear cousin in Bratislava went to a bookshop again and purchased also the two last books.
Five Harry Potter books travelled together from Bratislava to my home town Michalovce. The operation of their distribution among the givers took place in absolute secrecy in the morning of the Christmas Eve and during the Christmas Eve itself. I've found the third and fourth book under the Christmas tree at grandpa's from my cousins, and upon returning home my mum gave me the fifth, name-day one, since I won't be home at all on my name-day. Starting with two books, now I suddenly have five with only two missing, which was of a minor importance to me knowing that till I finish those I have, I will purchase those two missing ones myself for sure.
Three days later we promised to visit my half-siblings so there were still two presents missing and I started to suspect something, though I was afraid to expect. I knew, however, that if the packages will be of a specific rectangular shape, well known to all bookworms ;) then that will be it. And it was :) The two last Harry Potter books. All of a sudden even the illustrated Malfoy on the back of the sixth book seemed unbelievably charming and magical :)
