Knižný zoznam - Leto 2015 / Summer Reding List 2015

Na leto 2015 zatiaľ neplánujem nič špeciálne. Leto 2015, podobne ako to pred rokom, strávim opäť predovšetkým v práci. Voľné chvíle plánujem stráviť s priateľmi, výletmi do okolia Bratislavy, blogovaním a tvorením a inými vecami, ktoré s tým súvisia.
/
I don't have any special plans for summer 2015. I am going to spend it, just like the one a year before, mostly at work. There's only vacation I am going to spend at home in the east of Slovakia at the end of August and short vacation abroad is waiting for me at the beginning of October. I plan to spend my free summer time with friends, making trips to Bratislava surroundings, blogging and creating and doing other things related to it. Besides the above mentioned, I've prepared myself a list of books I'd like to read during summer 2015.
Since summer is traditionally associated with relax, my Summer Reading List 2015 too is composed of books I consider to be relaxing. From the list of all books I’d like to read, for summer 2015 I’ve chosen those with easier topics, lively, cheery, funny, refreshing or about love. There are some exceptions, though. I don’t know yet how many books will I be able to read this summer, since summer offers plenty of other fantastic possibilities of spending my free time but the books I will chose the books I’m going to read this summer from the list below:

/
I’ve been having this book of poetry on my 'To Read List' for some time already. It’s a second book of poetry by this author. I’ve read the Love and Misadventure, which is mostly about love, at the beginning of this year. And now the time for the second book has eventually come.

SU, BERNIE & RORICK, KATE: The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet - túto skvelú adaptáciu románu Pýcha a predsudok od Jane Austenovej, ktorá vznikla aj v knižnej podobe po úspechu formátu na YouTube, pod názvom "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries", mám práve rozčítanú a keď sa do nej začítam, tak skutočne neviem prestať ;)
/
I am currently in the middle of reading of this amazing adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, which builds on the success of the YouTube sensation called “The Lizzie Bennet Diaries”, and each time I start to read on, I’m simply unable to put it down.

/
Did you know that Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote also other books than only the series about Anne of Green Gables? Maybe stupid question but besides perhaps two other books I’ve been given as a child, I had no idea that two other, though smaller series than that about Anne do exist. However, The Blue Castle does not belong to neither of them. It’s a standalone novel about 29-years old, unmarried Valancy Stirling, searching for true happiness.

AUSTEN, JANE: Láska slečny Elliotovej / Persuasion - Jane Austenová samozrejme nesmie chýbať na mojom letnom knižnom zozname ;)
/
Jane Austen, of course, should not be missing from my summer reading list.

/
This is one of the exceptions, written by talented Slovak writer Tamara Heribanova. In the book Tamara deals with partnership and problems that sometimes make their appearance among two people.

/
This is yet another exception. It is a wonderful novel about coming-of-age Francie Nolan coming from a family living in Brooklyn. This is actually one of the books I am looking forward to at most.

GAVALDA, ANNA: Pár gramov pohody / Breaking Away - populárnu francúzsku autorku Annu Gavaldu som si obľúbila hneď ako som sa začala boriť s francúzskym originálom zbierky poviedok Chcel by som, aby mňa niekto niekde čakal (v originály Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part). Napriek mojej iba mierne pokročilej francúzštine ma kniha veľmi oslovila. Anna Gavalda vo svojich knihách a poviedkach opisuje bežné životné situácie neobyčajným spôsobom: je priama, ironická, no aj zábavná a vtipná.
/
I’ve get to like the French writer Anna Gavalda right when I started to struggle with French original of the collected short stories “I Wish Someone Were Waiting for Me Somewhere”. In spite of my only intermediary French I was very appealed by the book. In her books and short stories, Anna Gavalda covers ordinary situations in unordinary way: she’s straight, ironic but funny and witty at the same time.

POTTER, ALEXANDRA: Kto je to dievča? / Who's That Girl?
/
I have to admit that I know neither the author nor her books. However, as it usually goes with books, I was captured most of all by beautiful and colourful Slovak edition, with subtitle on the cover: “Imagine that you could meet you younger self…”

MOYES, JOJO: Me Before You (Me Before You #1) - podobne je to aj v prípade Jojo Moyesovej.
/
Same case as above with Jojo Moyes as well. Only with one exception that I’ve already read an extract from one of her books in a magazine, and I know that she is favourite author of many women. This is why I would like to eventually read one of her books.

PERKINS, STEPHANIE: Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss #1) - americkú spisovateľku Stephanie Perkins už poznám a to vďaka poslednej knihe z trilógie, s názvom Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3), ktorú som začala čítať skôr, ako som zistila, že ide o poslednú knihu zo série.
/
I know the American Stephanie Perkins already, thanks to the last book of the trilogy named Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3), I started to read before I’ve realised that this is actually the last book of a trilogy. The stories of the three young couples are however pretty standalone, so in this case I did no harm by starting with the last book ;) and I can happily and with the same interest start to read the first book ;)

GAIMAN, NEIL: The Ocean at the End of the Lane - no a napokon sa na mojom knižnom zozname na leto 2015 ocitla aj kniha, ktorú som už síce čítala, ale je natoľko fantastická, že si ju jednoducho chcem prečítať znova :)
/
And finally, on my Summer Reading List 2015, there’s a book I’ve read already but it is so amazing that I simply have to read it again :)

Vzbrala som si 2 knihy nádherné z vonku i z vnútra.
/
June is preparation for summer, and so is my June book haul. I've chosen it's contents on basis of what I would prefer to read during summer days. I've chosen two books, beautiful from the inside out.

Snívajúca no cieľavedomá Anna bola mojou obľúbenou postavou. Bolo to len nedávno, čo som zistila, že Lucy Maud Montgomeryová napísala okrem Anny aj veľa ďalších kníh a sérií. Na knihu The Blue Castle som na Goodreads našla len samé pozitívne a skutočne očarené hodnotenia, a preto nesmie chýbať ani na mojom čitateľskom zozname a už sa neviem dočkať, kedy sa pustím do čítania.
/
My first choice, I was sure it has to belong to my summer reading list, is The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I grew up with Anne of Green Gables, probably best known here in Slovakia of all Montgomery's characters. Dreamy but ambitious Anne was my favourite character. Only recently, I've got to know that Montgomery wrote many other books and series besides Anne. For The Blue Castle I've found only positive and truly amazed ratings on Goodreads, and therefore it should noway miss on my reading list and I can't wait to start to read it.

/
My second choice was equally superlatively rated book A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Although the book belongs to the classic in American literature, I've never came across it before. However, this does not change the fact that I am really looking forward to read the moving story of  the coming-of-age Francie Nolan.

Neil Gaiman: The Ocean at the End of the Lane / Oceán na konci ulice

/
To write a review of a book by Neil Gaiman, who is my favorite fantasy writer (as well as favorite fantasy writer of thousands of people around the world), means for me like to state something obvious. If you like fantasy then you've certainly already came across Neil Gaiman and there's no need to introduce his works. Many Gaiman's books however do not fit the fantasy genre in but they fit rather in the genre called magical realism: magical story planted into real world. And The Ocean at the End of the Lane is one of them. If you haven't had the privilege to read Gaiman's books yet but you like fantasy, or you are pondering to read something from this genre but you are unsure if you will like it, then I warmly recommend you Gaiman's books.

/
On that hot Friday evening, when I started to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane, before starting to read actually, I was soaking my swollen feet in a basin with cold water accompanied by relaxing murmurs of the sea played from YouTube :) Only after a while an unexpected link with the book I was about to read occurred to me: the ocean in a basin and tiny book in my library, comprising story by an outstanding writer with unlimited imagination.

"I was not happy as a child, although from time to time I was content. I lived in books more than I lived anywhere else."

Na tomto základe už potom Neil Gaiman rozvíja vlastnú fantáziu a to do smerov, výšok i hĺbok, aké dokáže vytvoriť jedine on.
/
The Ocean at the End of the Lane is a story based on Gaiman's recollections of his own childhood: the house, the car, the garden, the town and his own childish world. On this basis then Gaiman unwinds his own imagination in the ways, hights and depths only he can make. And he still leaves huge space for imagination, questions, speculations, explanations and answers of his readers. That is a great mastery.
The main character and narrator in one is a midle-aged man returning to his home town to attend a funeral. On his way back, he is lured to drive until the end of the lane. On the way there, he gradually recalls his childhood till he reaches a farm at the end of the lane. Sitting on a bench by a pond he remembers events that happened when he was seven. The pond or the ocean, belongs to a farm of a family composed of three generations of Hempstock women: Lettie, Ginie and Old Mrs Hempstock. The youngest Lettie was then for a while his only and the best friend he could wish for and with her he gets not only into a magical world but gets to the very essence of the existence. However, I am getting too far with this. You have to discover it by reading the book, so that it does not sound without a context.
Many things and facts in a real life which we consider to be given, unchanging and clear, actually look completely different as we perceive them - in reality they are something or someone different. Just like the pond, or water in a bucket, which is in reality an endless ocean. Or only a few pages edition of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and especially the international one I have, which even fits into my tiny handbag, and still it comprises a story and questions that will remain on your mind for a long time after you are done with the book.

"Nobody actually looks like what they really are on the inside. You don't. I don't. People are much more complicated than that. It's true of everybody."

/
In the story Gaiman also masterfully toys with memory and recollections. In life, unfortunately sometimes happen things that we would rather forget. Sometimes our subconsciousness does us the favor and sometimes it didn't. However, in life there are also plenty of things and experiences we would like to keep in our memory as best as we can but we are not allowed to remember them not to remember them permanently at all. And what if in there are many more memories hidden in the corners of our minds as we are able to remember? Many more than we relieved in our whole life from birth till today. What if there's far more memories in our mind that reveal themselves only in some moments and only very darkly? Like déjà vu? What if we keep inside not a pond but a whole ocean of memories? Isn't scientific research maybe also some kind of remembering?

/
It's also amazing and interesting how two different books I read at the same time (usually one in English and the other in Slovak), or in succession, can complement one another. In the time of reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane, I was reading a collection of articles by Martin Mojžiš from the Slovak weekly .týždeň, in which in popular way he explains the laws of physics, which we encounter daily but we do not muse on them closely, or they stay unexplained for us non-physicists or even wrongly understood. In some of the articles the author also touches the theories of quantum physics and mechanics. And precisely the influence of these highly scientific theories is also one of the questions posed to Neil Gaiman in an interesting video about The Ocean at the End of the Lane, which you can find at the end of this review.

/
After finishing of any of the books by Neil Gaiman I feel like I would like to start to read all over again. First, I swallow it thirstily, chapter after chapter, and then I have the feeling that I want to enjoy it somehow better - not only want impatiently to know how the story is going to develop, but enjoy it as a whole as well as very thoroughly, even already knowing how it will end. In books by Gaiman there's still something more than only a story, culmination and the end. And though I desire to read and discover still new books and stories, I am sure that during Summer 2015 I am going to spend another few days by The Ocean at the End of the Lane.

Moje hodnotenie / My rating:

Toľko moja recenzia a hodnotenie.
/
That's all for my review and rating. And now I will pass the word to Neil Gaiman himself and to his answers to the best bookclub questions that read the Ocean at the End of the Lane. It's realy worth watching ;)

Markus Zusak: Zlodejka kníh / The Book Thief

/
The book, the narrator of which is the Death, set against the background of Nazi Germany.

/
That's short description of the basic framework of the book, which would for sure prevent me from choosing it as modern fiction for leisure reading. Except that Markus Zusak managed to create on this basis one of the best books I've ever read.

A túto možnosť využil Markus Zusak úplne naplno.
/
The book has a specific style. Casting of the death in the role of the narrator, equipped Zusak with opportunity to view human acts from the point of an outsider, who on the other hand had the possibility to watch humanity and its actions for several centuries. And Zusak takes advantage of this possibility to the fullest. Matter-of-fact comments calling things by their proper names, with slight taste of joke and irony, when a reader gets the feeling that there's no better way to express the particular reality.

"A DEFINITION NOT FOUND IN THE DICTIONARY
Not-leaving: An act of trust and love, often deciphered by children."

"THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN A BOY WHO HATES YOU
A boy who loves you."

/
The death by Zusak is in many ways, and this is what will probably surprise you, exceptionally human. Far more human than people that in the history caused crimes like those of Adolf Hitler. This is the death, who is able to distinguish different shades of both good and bad.

/
However, first of all The Book Thief is a book about great power of words. A word is a powerful weapon, able to kill s well as rescue and give life a new meaning. The main character of the book is a little girl Liesel. Liesel is 9-years-old when she arrives into her foster family of Hubermanns, living on poor Himmel Street in the outskirts of Munich. Liesel is illiterate, though lured by the world of words and books, with help of her foster father, accordionist and house painter Hans Hubermann, she learns to read and write. Two activities that will profoundly change her life both in a positive as well as in a horrific way.

"The words. Why did they have to exist? Without them, there wouldn't be any of this. Without words, the Führer was nothing. There would be no limping prisoners, no need for consolation or wordly tricks to make us feel better.
What good were the words?"

/
Next to the atrocities committed by the Nazi, we would almost forget that even in the Nazi Germany, there were still ordinary people that only wanted to live in peace and didn't want to have anything to do with the regime, which cruelly rebounded on them. In the Nazi Germany, there certainly lived people similar to the characters from this book: kids with their own world like Liesel and her best friend Rudy Steiner; people compassionate and devoted like the Hubermanns, or Mr and Mrs Steiner, trying to protect their own family. Crimes against people committed by Nazis can't be covered by anything and Zusak don't even try to do so. Zusak presents the reality in all its dimensions.

Ako absolventku politológie ma určitým spôsobom láka každá beletria spojená s nejakým politickým režimom. Napriek tomu, a možno viac kvôli stručnému opisu z úvodu, som dlho otáľala nad kúpou a prečítaním si tejto knihy. Niekedy čosi tají a mnohokrát prezrádza dej dopredu avšak neodrádza, ba presne naopak, láka prečítať si ešte jednu kapitolu. Alebo dve. Či tri? ;)

As a Political Science graduate I feel kind of attracted by fiction connected to some kind of political system. In spite of this, and maybe more due to the short description from the beginning, I've been hesitating to buy and read this book. However, The Book Thief was absolutely supposed to belong to my 'To Read List'. Although I am typical slow reader and it normally takes me even a month to read an average book (approx. 350-400 pages), I was swallowing The Book Thief, sometimes even several chapters in one session. It attracted me and every evening and every morning I was looking forward to read on. Zusak's masterful writing lacks perhaps nothing. Sometimes he keeps things hidden though many times he reveals next events but without discouraging, indeed the opposite, he attracts to read one more chapter. Or two. Or three? ;)

Zlodejka kníh právom patrí do mojej knižnice a do imaginárnej police mojich obľúbených kníh. Je to nádherná kniha.
/
The Book Thief belongs rightly to my library and to the imaginary shelf of my favourite books. It's wonderful.

Moje hodnotenie / My rating:

Kniha vyšla aj v slovenskom preklade, vo vydavateľstve Ikar a nájdete ju hádam v každom kníhkupectve.

Ak by ste si chceli knihu prečítať v anglickom originály, tiež ju určite nájdete v takmer každom lepšom kníhkupectve.

Darčekový knižný úlovok / The Gift Book Haul

/
At the beginning of the post a small riddle: What's inside of this package?
A bit stupid question, isn't it? What else could be in a package from a post called 'book haul'. Of course there are books inside. But how many? What books exactly? And why are they wrapped?
Also the answer to the last question reveals the very title of this post. It's a gift. However, it is a bit of a brain-teaser to find the answers to both of the prior questions. An experienced bookworm could possibly guess the first one correctly. However, it is almost impossible to find the answer to the second one at this stage. That's why I won't keep you in suspense any longer and I am going to reveal the answer to both questions with only one single picture.

/
There are, or better said, there were (at the time of writing of this post, the package has already been opened and the books are on the other end of Slovakia) two masterful books in the package: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I gave the package to my mother. There's still plenty of time till any of her celebrations, but as a bookworm I've been mesmerized by both books so much that I couldn't wait any longer and I simply had to get them for her. I've read both books in English (at the time of writing of this post I am finishing The Book Thief). Actually, I prefer to read all books written by English writing authors rather in the original. And this is where the problem emerges for my mother, always regretting that she is unable to read my books, because she doesn't speak English.
After reading The Goldfinch in English, I cannot wait for the end of May, when Slovak translation of the book has finally been published, and I could please my mother with it.
I was mesmerized by The Book Thief after few pages and when I've noticed that one of our Slovak publishers called Ikar is celebrating its 25th birthday with 12% discount on their books, I knew that this is the right time to provide my mom with another excellent reading.

Obe hlavné postavy: Theo Donny Tarttovej a Liesel Markusa Zusaka majú niečo, na čom doslova lipnú: Liesel knihy a Theo obraz. No a ešte jedna spoločná črta: obe knihy sú majstrovsky napísané.
/
Both books have, besides (in this case) one package, also something more in common. Liesel from the movie adaptation on the cover of the book has almost identical sight with the goldfinch chained up to its feeder. The sight of confinement by tragic circumstances, they are unable to influence or change, whether it is war or a terrorist attack. Both main characters: Tartt's Theo or Zusak's Liesel have something they stick to: Liesel has books and Theo his picture. And both books are masterfully written. And another common feature: both books are masterfully written.

Už teraz som si istá, že Stehlík a Zlodejka kníh budú patriť k mojim knižným hviezdam tohto roka a dúfam, že rovnako si ich obľúbi aj moja mama.
/
Even now I am completely sure that The Goldfinch and The Book Thief are going to shine among my bookish stars of this year, and I hope that my mother will enjoy them as well.

/
This is my very first DIY instruction ever so it probably won't be perfect but I will try to do my best with it. In the course of making of the pinboard I've discovered some ways on how to make things better that I am going to mention in the text. It was pretty tough to work and take pictures at the same time, so please consider my pictures to be more or less illustrative and primarily follow the instructions. The making of the pinboard itself is pretty easy so that everyone can manage to make one ;)

Príbeh bodkovanej nástenky / The Polka Dot Pinboard Story

/
Just like behind everything in my life (and on this blog ;), there's a story behind the Golden Polka Dot Pinboard as well. And my desire to hang a couple of pictures on the wall in my new rented room.
When I moved in almost a year ago, after new pieces of furniture had been assembled and moved, after the room had been cleaned and my things unpacked, finally one nice and pleasant activity fell upon me: to design my new room. I used to have some hinged framed pictures in my previous lodging. And this is where I encountered a problem. The owners of the apartment didn't advise me to nail the pictures on the wall, since the building has probably been made of inferior panels, that even with a small intervention crumble and fall off. Even then I've realised that there's no single hinged shelf or picture in the whole flat. Ugly hole in the wall discouraged me to that extent that I've been able to live in a room with bare walls for almost a year. However, I've never resigned to this state of things and each time I saw some beautifully designed wall, I started to ponder on how to hang something in my room after all.

Pinterest is constant source of inspiration and new ideas  for me and quite often my own ideas use to emerge only after several interesting pictures combine in my mind. This is exactly how it was in case of the Golden Polka Dot Pinboard.
Source of Inspiration no. 1: I've been toying with the idea of using a double sided tape to hang something. It wasn't very useful for my glass framed pictures: a bit heavy and I wasn't sure how will the double sided tape work in combination with clips holding the glass.
Source of Inspiration no. 2: I am also bewitched by clean lines, white colour, mostly in combination with shiny gold, shiny copper or rose gold, and with more traditional colours like black, grey, fuchsia or pastel hues, nowadays so popular in home design. Add some transparent materials (glass, plastic) and the final effect is just perfect. Many successful women, when furnishing their office, get inspired by collection of office supplies by Kate Spade, dominated by above mentioned combinations of white and gold, transparent materials, dots and stripes. All things that make me stare in silent awe not only seeing the prices but also knowing that the primary requirement for office supplies is their functionality, while many get broken or get otherwise damaged after some time. In particular, I can't imagine to staple papers with golden stapler by Kate Spade. However, this changes nothing on the fact that they are beautiful design desk accessories.

Source of Inspiration no. 3: The idea to make a pinboard out of cork glass mats from IKEA, by Peggy Wang from Buzzfeed.com: 37 Clever Ways To Organize Your Entire Life With Ikea
And from here, there was only one step towards the idea of the Polka Dot Pinboard. I missed only...
Source of Inspiration no. 4: One day I found on Pinterest the instructions on how to refurbish an office with large golden dots pasted on the wall, by blogger Lauren Conrad: Office Makeover: Our LC.com Décor Updates
And that's how an idea to make the Golden Polka Dot Pinboard in my room came into existence. And here are the instructions so you can make yourself one as well :)

Materiál / Tools and Materials

Zoženiete v obchode so stavbárskym materiálom.
  • Nožnice na strihanie obojstrannej lepiacej pásky.
  • Tvrdú ceruzku, minimálne HB a viac. Mäkšia zanecháva veľa šmúh a mali by ste viac starostí pri finálnom gumovaní steny.
  • Pravítko alebo iný nástroj na meranie. Ja, ako majster krivých čiar a nakrivo nalepených plagátov, som si pre istotu zaobstarala vodováhu ;)
  • Rukavice.

To make a Golden Polka Dot Pinboard we will need:
  • Round cork mats. Quantity depends on how large pinboard you want to make. To make mine, I used 25 pieces at a 10 cm diameter.
  • Gold spray paint. Of course, if you want your dots to have a different colour, you are free to chose the colour you like the most. However, keep in mind that cork has a grainy surface that will stay even after several coats of varnish still visible. For my pinboard I used matte gold, metallic acrylic spray paint, rather expensive but there are plenty of other cheaper options.
  • Old newspapers. To protect the surface (so that everything stays clean ;)
  • Double sided adhesive tape. You can find it in a store with general building materials.
  • Scissors to cut the double sided adhesive tape.
  • Hard pencil, at least HB or harder. Softer pencil is too messy and it will cause you more trouble by final erasing of  the ledger-lines.
  • Ruler or some other measuring tool. Me, as a champion of awry lines and awry hung posters, I bought myself a water-level just in case.
  • Gloves. They get handy while varnishing, at least for the finger you are going to use to press the sprayer.
  • Eraser. It is not on the picture, however you are going to need it to erase the ledger-lines on your wall.

Postup / Instructions

/
Place newspaper sheets on the ground (I suggest you to do the varnishing part on the largest space possible, where you could damage by varnish the least amount of things, just in case something goes wrong ;) For me the only such a space was on the floor of my room) so that they overlay and prevent the surface under from getting dirty. Place the cork mats on the newspaper sheets, as close to each other and to the center of the newspaper base as possible. Take care that no mats overlap and leave a small space between them, so that the edges get covered with varnish as well.

/
The surface of the cork mats use to be covered with slight crumbled grains of cork, caused by its crumbling in package and during manipulation with the product. Clean slightly the surface of each of the mats with your hand.

Oblečte si niečo, čoho vám nebude ľúto, ak to náhodou zničíte lakom. Moje domáce tepláky skončili so zlatým lemom ;) Ak používate lak po prvýkrát (ako ja ;), pred použitím si pozorne prečítajte návod. Pred aplikáciou bude pravdepodobne potrebné plechovku nejaký čas potriasť, aby sa jej obsah dostal do pohybu a všetky zložky sa poriadne premiešali.
/
Spray paint emanates thinner when used, and so if you are in a room, leave the window open wide before, during and after varnishing, or you may as well cover your nose and mouth with a scarf. Put on something you won't regret when it gets spoiled with spray paint. My home sweatpants ended up with golden hem ;) If you are going to use the spray paint for the first time (just like me ;), read the instructions properly before using it. Probably you will have to shake the tin for a while, so that the contents are put in motion and all ingredients get mixed properly. Put on a glove. It will suffice if you cover just the finger with which you are going to press the sprinkler. If you put a glove on your whole hand, after some time you will probably have to struggle to hold on the tin. When varnishing, hold the spray paint tin in appropriate distance of approx. 15-20 cm above the surface. Try to spray verticaly to the surface, in order to cover sides of the cork mats as well.

No a kým nám podložky schnú, na stene si zatiaľ môžeme odmerať a nakresliť mriežku, do ktorej budeme nalepovať bodky.
/
Cork surface will need at least two coats of spray paint. Wait for a while till the spray paint gets dry (the time for different kinds of spray paint may vary) and apply another coat.
Let the mats get dry according to the time specified by the manufacturer of your spray paint. And while mats are drying, we can draw a grid on the wall, into which we are going to hang our dots.

Plán mojej nástenky vyzeral nasledovne: podložky s priemerom 10 cm umiestnim cikcakovito, pričom zvislo a vodorovne bude medzi každou rovnako 10 cm. To znamená, že rozmery nástenky budú 70x70 cm. Najprv som si zvislou čiarou naznačila ľavý okraj nástenky. Vodováha mi pomohla urobiť ju aj bez ďalších meraní kolmú so zemou.
/
In the beginning of this section, I consider necessary to mention that I am left-handed for all activities involving measuring and counting. OK, that's it. Let's go measuring :)
The plan for my pinboard was as follows: I will place the mats at a 10 cm diameter zigzag, while I will leave vertically and horizontally 10 cm gap between each one. That means that dimensions of my pinboard will be 70x70 cm. First, I drafted left border of the pinboard with a pencil. The water-level helped me to make it vertical to the ground, even without further measuring.

Potom som priložila vodováhu k hornému okraju budúcej nástenky a naznačila som horný okraj.
/
Then I put the water-level on the top border of my future pinboard and I drafted the top border line. I also did the same for the bottom border. Having measured 70 centimetres on the bottom and top edge, I only linked the right endings of the top and bottom lines.

/
After borders of the pinboard were drafted, I divided it into a grid of squares of 10x10 centimetres, to which I will paste the varnished mats by skipping every second square.

/
After the cork mats got dry I pasted on the back side of each of them a cut rectangle of the double sided tape.

Pred priložením na stenu odlepíme zo štvorčeka ochrannú fóliu, podložku napasujeme rovnomerne do určeného štvorca na stene a poriadne pritlačíme.
/
Before pasting them on the wall, remove the protective paper from the rectangle, place a mat on the wall so that it suits into a given rectangle and press it to the wall properly.

Takto postupne nalepíme na stenu všetky podložky.
/
This is how we gradually paste all mats on the wall.

/
After hanging all mats, there comes the part I hated the most: erasing of the ledger-lines.

Ale potom: Voilà! Moja prvá nádherná kreácia, prostredníctvom ktorej si môžem na stenu konečne pripnúť veľa krásnych obrázkov je hotová! :)
Ako si zaplniť nástenku zaujímavými a nápaditými vecami, spracujem v ďalšom z mojich kreatívnych príspevkov.
/
But after that: Voilà! My first wonderful creation, thanks to which I can finally hang a lots of beautiful pictures is done! :)
In my next creative post I am going to tell you how to fill your pinboard with interesting and inventive things.
